If you have ever thought about renting an allotment now is the time to act. There are five sites around Gainsborough owned and administrated by Gainsborough Town Council. Here is your chance to "grow your own" and make new friends at the same time.
"If you’re interested in an allotment, now is the time to apply!
Across Gainsborough Town Council managed allotment sites there are plots available, whether you’re looking for a small patch to get started or a larger plot, there are options available".
"Please note, to find the plot that’s right for you, it is essential that you first contact our Allotments Officer to book a walkaround as plots are accessible to plot holders only." To find out more visit https://gainsborough-tc.gov.uk or ring 01427 811573.
The Council has produced a very useful 20-page Guide to Gardening booklet packed with information and tips to get the best results. Contact the council to request a digital copy.
The Gainsborough & District Flower Club nights are on the fourth Thursday in the month start time 7:15 p.m. at Gladstone House, Ropery Road, Gainsborough DN21 2TS.
"You don’t have to be a flower arranger to join. If you love flowers – for your home, for church, for occasions, to grow in the garden, or simply enjoy watching flowers being arranged and have a fun and sociable evening, then please come along."
"There is a small charge of £5 for visitors. After two visits, you are required to join the club. The annual subscription is £45, but as we are half way through the year we may be able to do this at a reduced cost".
“The three photos are shown with the kind permission of Andrew Key who gave a demonstration last Thursday (July 27th). We had a great time, he was really entertaining and the floral exhibits were wonderful, even better, they are raffled off at the end of each club night!”.
The branch meets on the 3rd Weds of each month at Gainsborough Methodist Church at 7.30pm during Autumn and Winter. Talks and presentations on wildlife are always informative.
An entrance contribution of £2.50 (min) includes refreshments. Field trips are arranged during the Spring/Summer months.
